Contract Type: An initial one-year (part time or full-time) employment contract will be offered with the possibility for renewal.

Location: Nicosia, Cyprus

Indicative Annual Gross Salary Range FTE: €30,000 - €33,500. The salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role. 

Preferred Start Date: September 2026, or as soon thereafter.

About the Research Group 

The SuPerWorld Research Group involves technology in pervasive computing, which touches upon research that focuses on the real world towards (contributing in) making it more sustainable. As “real world”, we refer to humans, animals and plants, as well as to the physical and urban environment. The Opportunity 

The primary focus of the role is to support the development of a set of web interactive tools that will be used for both research and commercial applications, based on the group’s current R&D projects. The successful candidate will have experience in working with different web development tools and environments and be able to select the methods of work that best suit the project. The successful candidate will work under the supervision and guidance of the SuPerWorld Research Group Leader, Dr Andreas Kamilaris. SuPerWorld is a group of young professionals who enjoy research, development and life collaborating together on a daily basis.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and support web-based interactive tools for research and commercial applications. 
  2. Select and apply appropriate web development technologies and methodologies to meet project requirements. 
  3. Work closely with the Research Group Leader and project team to deliver high-quality software solutions within agreed timelines.

General qualifications and requirements

Key requirements
Essential Requirements
  1. University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or Degree of a level equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree) or Diploma or Certificate or other study title or qualifications in Computer Science, Information Science, Web Development or relevant fields.
  2. Experience in Frontend development (e.g. JavaScript, Angular, React).
  3. Experience in Backend development (e.g. PHP, NodeJS, Python).
  4. Experience with relational databases (e.g. MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  5. Language requirements: Excellent written and oral English-language skills will be required.  
  6. For non-EU applicants a work permit will be required
 
Desirable Qualifications
The following will be considered an advantage:
  1. MSc degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, with a specialization relevant to web development. 
  2. Coding skills in Python.
  3. Experience with mobile app programming.
  4. Experience with cloud computing.
